Coordinator of Shooting Sport Federation’s preparations for the forthcoming 12th African Games in Morocco, Mr. Clement Iyaluegbeghe, an Assistant Director in the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, has thumbed up the Nigerian Shooting Sports Federation, NSSF, national trials programme held between 27th and 28th of June.

The Director expressed this when he visited the National Shooting Range, venue for the trials.

“I feel very satisfied with what am seeing. The trials are being organised in an orderly fashion, with some of the best judges overseeing everything that happens here.

“In the pistol category, I can see the shooters are scoring very high. So, the determination to be invited to camp and subsequently be part of the games is quite high among the athletes”, he began.

Describing the relationship between the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Nigerian Shooting Sport Federation, Mr. Iyaluegbeghe opined that it is cordial and symbiotic.

“From my observations, I see that the Ministry has interest in all the sports under its purview and Shooting Sport is no exception.

“The Nigerian Shooting Sport Federation is receiving adequate support from the Ministry, especially by ensuring that the right person is the President of the Federation that is Brigadier General Lonsdale Adeoye.

“The Ministry too has attended a couple of events and workshops organised by the current Board of the Federation, and so far, they are doing very well, and we are so pleased with this Board.

“We will equally continue to support the NSSF where necessary to excel at the African Games in Morocco”, he reiterated.

The 12th African Games will take place in Rabat and Casablanca, Morocco from 19 -31 August, 2019.

Morocco which is ranked the fifth largest economy in Africa was selected to replace Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, as the host of the 2019 edition in July 2018, and this is the first time the North African Maghreb country will be hosting it.

The African Games, formally known as the All-Africa Games or the Pan African Games, are a continental multi-sport event held every four years, organized by the African Union (AU) with the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Association of African Sports Confederations (AASC).
