Former Africa champions and the first Africa team sport to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics, D’Tigers have moved up 10 places in the latest Federation of International Basketball Association, FIBA ranking and now ranked 23rd best team in the world, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

After a strong showing at the FIBA Men’s World Championship in China, the D’Tigers were rewarded with 10 points movement from their initial 33 position before the FIBA World Cup which just ended in China.

According to the FIBA rankings released Friday (today), Nigeria’s senior men’s national basketball team moved up 10 places after emerging the best African team at the just concluded FIBA World Cup in China.

D’Tigers won 3 games against South Korea, Cote d’ Voire, and host China and lost 2 to Russia and Argentina to finish on the 17th spot out of the 32 participating teams at the World Cup.

Angola is the second best ranked African team at 32 while Tunisia came 3rd at 33. Senegal who are 4th in Africa are ranked 35 in the world.

The female national team D’Tigress are ranked second on the continent.
