The Federal Capital Territory Football Association, FCT FA has expressed shock and sadness over the untimely death of former Flying Eagles and 2008 Dream Team captain, Isaac Promise.

The FCT FA Chairman Adam Mouktar expressed the association’s sadness and heartfelt condolences to the family of late Promise describing his sudden death as tragic.

Mouktar who commiserated with late Promise family described the ex-international as a humble, committed and patriotic Nigerian who passionately served the country in his capacity as a player.

Speaking with Best Choice Sports, Mouktar said that Isaac Promise’s death is heartbroken considering that it happened when he is still active in his career and said the country will miss him

“I am still in shock right now. Isaac Promise sudden death is heartbroken, it is sad; very sad. His death is tragic.

“The FCT FA Board Members and the entire stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory football are saddened by his death. We mourn his demise and console the family.

“Promise was a committed and patriotic Nigerian who served this country diligently in his capacity as a player. It is sad that he departed at a time like this. Unfortunately, no body can question God. We will miss him always. His service to motherland was exceptional

“Nevertheless, we are consoled by the fact that he left a good name and a track record as former captain of the national teams including leading the team to silver medal at the Beijing Olympic in 2008.

“We empathise with the family and pray God to give them the great courage to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.

Late Isaac Promise, aged 31, died on Wednesday after a brief illness.
He captained Nigeria to the 2008 Olympic silver medal and scored 79 goals in 11 professional football season in Turkey.

Promise died late Wednesday after collapsing at his apartment gym in Austin, Texas, according report.
