The finals of the maiden edition of FWC Champions FCT Secondary Schools Football Tournament finally kicked off with GSS Mabushi and GDSS Abaji securing wins to qualify for next round.

The two games played on matchday 1 had to wait until the second half to decide the winner as GSS Tudun Wada were first to be dumped out, credits to a lone goal scored by Joseph Bitrus for GSS Mabushi.

The game ended 1-0 in favour of the Mabushi representatives, giving them the ticket for another fight in the next stage.

GDSS Abaji later joined GSS Mabushi for the next round of games after a productive display that ended in a 2-1 win over GSS Airport.

Yunusa Ya’u and Abdulkareem Hamza helped GDSS Abaji with the deserved win following a free-kick goal and another shot respectively.

Efforts by GSS Airport to come from behind was not enough following a goal by Jamilu Alhassan from the spot with GDSS Abaji refusing to bow to pressure in the final minutes of the game.

However, matches for the finals will resume, Wednesday, October 23 with the games between GSS APO and GSS Gwagwalada by 1pm while GSS Giri will face GSS Wuse 3 by 3pm.
