Super Eagles coach, Gernort Rohr has disclosed his desire to continue in his role as the national team’s gaffer despite doubts being expressed over his technical ability in changing the dynamic of matches and enthroning a pattern of play for the team, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

On Tuesday, Super Eagles squandered a two-goal lead against European opponents, Ukraine to concede two goals within a minute in the dying minutes of the game and end the match in a draw.

While many have consistently questioned his technical-know-how considering how the team have fared under him – crashed out at the group stage at Russia 2018 World Cup despite having the best preparation ever as well as finishing 3rd at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt – Rohr has come out to say that he is willing to keep his position for longer time but expressed worry that his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation is coming to an end at a time the team will be in the heat of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Speaking after the friendly on Tuesday, disclosed that his future in charge of the Super Eagles is uncertain following the contract he signed with the Nigeria Football Federation, which ends in June 2020.

Rohr stated that he would be busy with his qualifying campaign during the period his contract was scheduled to end.

The German, who took charge of the Eagles in 2016, signed a contract extension after his first two-year deal expired in 2018. During an interview with BBC World Football, the gaffer indicated he was ready to continue his job as Eagles coach.

The coach said he had plans to achieve “big things” with the Eagles, adding that making Nigeria qualify for the 2021 African Cup of Nations was a priority.

He said, “I have a lot I want to achieve; big things with Nigeria. I can see what the future can produce. I hope I can work with (NFF) President Pinnick (Amaju) to achieve those things. But I don’t know my situation after June 2020. We have to see what happens.

“As it is known, my current contract with the Super Eagles runs till June 2020. This ends right in the middle of the qualifying campaign for the 2021 AFCON.

“It’s a bit strange that I have a contract ending while I have to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.”
