The Nigeria National League, NNL has fined De Sapele Lions Football Club the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000) only for abandoning their Week 4 away match against Akwa Starlets in Uyo, Wednesday, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

In a release signed by the NNL image maker, Amar Ignis, the league management said that Sapele Lions discontinued play in the 72 minutes of the match after being 3 goals down adding that such act was a contravention of article 14.8 of the rule book.

Consequently, the NNL management awarded three points and three goals to the host team, Akwa Starlets.

The statement reads “De Sapele Lions Football Club are to pay the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000.00) for abandoning their away fixture, match day four (4) against their hosts Akwa Starlets in Uyo.

“De Sapele Lions decision to discontinue play in the 72 minutes after being 3 goals down was a contravention of article 14.8 of the rule book.

“The match officials observed the mandatory count charge. Accordingly, Akwa Starlets have been award 3points and 3 goals.”

Meanwhile the management of the Nigeria second tier league, NNL, has extended the mid-season transfer deadline from four days to a full week.

The mid-season transfer which initially slated to commence from Monday 13 May to 17th have now been extended to last from Monday 13th May to Monday 20th May 2019.
