Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ebere Eze is not yet ready to play for Nigeria, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

This paper gathered that Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr’s overture for the 21-year old to switch allegiance to his country of origin is not yielding expected result.

Rohr has made consistent effort to bring the talented midfielder to play for the three-time Africa champions including a reported opportunity to be included in  Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2021 AFCON qualifiers with Benin Republic and Lesotho this month.

According to Osasu Obayiuwana Nigeria has made an approach to Ebere Eze anding that Rohr confirmed approached the midfielder but it would take time before he would play for Nigeria.

“EbereEze10, is seen by some as the long-sought successor to midfield maestro @IAmOkocha, in the @NGSuperEagles

“I asked Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr about the situation. And this is what he told me, on Friday…We have approached him, but not directly. My assistant spoke to his Mum. What we understand is that there is a lot of pressure on him and @EbereEze10 doesn’t want to give an answer now.”

“Obviously, we would love to have him in the @NGSuperEagles, of course! We continue to work on getting him. It may take some time,” he quoted Rohr.

Eze is of Nigerian ancestry and has trained with the Nigeria national team in 2017 in London. On 5 October 2018, he was called up to the England national under-20 team, and made his debut on 11 October in a 2–1 win against Italy in the Under 20 Elite League.

On 3 September 2019 Eze was called up to the England U21 squad by manager Aidy Boothroyd for the upcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Turkey and Kosovo. Eze was an unused substitute on both occasions.
