Report coming in indicates that officials and players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria are yet to be paid their 2021 AFCON qualifier matches’ bonuses, Bestchoicesporta.com.ng can report.

This revelation, coming days after the team played its first two matches in the 2021 AFCON race, also indicated that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF after the match in Maseru, Lesotho on Sunday decided to pay 16, out of the 23 players that travelled for the match their outstanding match bonuses in the 2019 AFCON tournament held in Egypt.

According to report, 7 players who are not part of the AFCON tournament in Egypt were left out after the payment was made.

But moved by the spirit of brotherhood which has been a great bond and force binding the players for years since things started being owed backlog of entitlements, the 16 players, after consultations with the team’s captain, Ahmed Musa, donated $1, 000 each, totalling $16, 000 and gave it to the 7 other players who were not paid.

According to Osasu Obayiuwana in a series of tweets on the developing story, he noted that while the action taken by the 16 players showed solidarity and unity of purpose, he raised concern that the NFF is yet to pay the teams for the 2021 AFCON qualifier matches entitlement adding that the debts are piling up already.

He stressed that apart from the players and officials of the teams, over 100 other persons travelled with the team to Lesotho on Saturday.

Mr Obayiuwana noted that because of the large contingent of the team, they were delayed for an hour waiting for one of the contingents who arrived the airport late after the match on Sunday.

“The Super Eagles secured maximum points from their AFCON 2021 qualifier afcon2021Q qualifiers against Benin in Uyo & Lesotho in Maseru. @victorosimhen9 was the star of the show in Maseru. But does @Nigeria really want to know what went on behind the scenes? If you do, read on…

“Do you know that the @NGSuperEagles players, coaches and staff are yet to receive their bonuses? Please ask @thenff why this is the case…

“@thenff paid $14,000 each, to 16 out of the 23  @NGSuperEagles that were at #Afcon2019. They never paid any #afcon2021Q allowances to the other seven. So, after consultations with Captain  @Ahmedmusa718, the 16 contributed $16k, which was given to the 7 to share. Osasu Obayiuwana@osasuo

“That, as you would agree, is real solidarity from the 16 @NGSuperEagles players. But why has @thenff failed to pay the team their #afcon2021Q allowances and bonuses? They are already in arrears with other allowances, even before the 2021 AFCON. The debts are piling up…

“Now, let’s talk about the trip to Maseru, from Uyo, where the players were made to travel in small seats in very uncomfortable conditions… They had to make a stopover in Luanda, because the plane didn’t have the capacity to fly directly to Maseru…

“Besides the players, over 100 people followed the team to Maseru. After the

“@NGSuperEagles won the game, they were told to head straight to the airport. After boarding they couldn’t take off. Why? They were kept waiting by the flotsam and jetsam (yes, the 100+) for 1 HOUR,” he tweeted
