Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Ashley Young will be the club’s captain this season.

The Red Devils’ captaincy had been up for grabs following Antonio Valencia’s exit at the end of last season. Some of the names proposed to wear the armband have included David De Gea, Nemanja Matic, and Paul Pogba.

Yet, on Saturday, OGS revealed that Young will hold the honour this season:

“David (De Gea’s) obviously in contention, (but) Ash, when he’s on the pitch, will carry the armband. When Ash starts, he’ll be carrying the armband,” he said.
