2022 NPFL: Kabiru Adeniji’s Strike Earns Niger Tornadoes Valuable Away Point Against Enyimba

Niger Tornadoes Football Club Of Minna continued her recent fine form in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League 2021/2022 season as they picked crucial away points against former champions, Enyimba

The Ikon Allah Boys snatched a point off eight-time league champions in the matchday 12 encounter decided at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The hosts began the match more determined to pick maximum points as Samuel Kalu and Emeka Obioma tormented the Tornadoes rearguard. Kalu came closest to opening score, when his shot rattled the woodwork with Augustine Oladapo also made some good runs inside the visitors final third but his effort were kept at bay by resilient Tornadoes back line marshalled by Abiodun Adebayo and Sunday Akinmoladun.

Kabiru Adeniji broke the deadlock on the 39th minute when he cleverly control Ahmadu Liman’s pass inside the box and slept the ball passed Ojo Olorunleke in goal for Enyimba off a sharp touch on Oluwatosin Adegbite’s leg; Kabiru claimed his goal.

The elephants turned up the heat immediately after conceding the goal as they continue to mount serious charge towards goal, their effort paid off, as they win a penalty towards the end of half time, when Lucky Abdul Jimoh failed to hold firmly to Emeka Obioma’s shot and in the process fouled Emeka Awazie who was trying to reach the ball, Augustine Oladapo scored from the spot to level things up before half time.

Second half produced no goals as the visitors resilience at the back proved a hard knot to crack.

In his post match conference, Tornadoes gaffer, Abubakar Bala who conceded that the match was a difficult one, praised the players for a great job and charged them to sustain the momentum

“It was a very difficult game against a big team like Enyimba, you can see how the boys fought very hard.

“I praised them for sustaining the pressure. This is now our third game unbeaten in the league and we hope to sustain the momentum.”
