2022 NWFL Season Embark On Mid-break As Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels Lead Groups

Nasarawa Amazons Football Club and Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt are the league leaders in the Nigeria Women’s Football League, NWFL Premiership Group A and B respectively as the 2021/2022 season go on
mid-break.
In Group A, Nasarawa Amazons achieved the pivotal position following their Week Seven 2-0 victory against Confluence Queens at the Lafia Township Stadium. This took them to 15 points, ahead of Edo Queens of Benin City who were on bye at 14 points.
Still in Group A, despite Pelican Stars of Calabar’s 1-0 win against Naija Ratels at the U.J Esuene Stadium, Calabar, they still wallow in the bottom position with a meagre 3 points and -10 goal difference.
In Group B, defending champions, Rivers Angels top the league table with 13 points after defeating Sunshine Queens of Akure 2-1 in Port Harcourt. Rivers overtook former leaders, Bayelsa Queens who were on bye on 11 points.
The best result of Week 7 was achieved by FC Robo Queens of Lagos, that consolidated and covered up their last home draw against Delta Queens that also earned them a three match ban from their home ground. With an away victory against Royal Queens of Warri. FC Robo beat Royal Queens 1-0 in the only away win in Week 7, to return the Emmanuel Osahon-tutored team to third position going into the mid season break.
While Abia Angels’ goalless draw against Delta Queens kept them rooted to the bottom of Group B table with an inferior 4 points and -6 Goal Difference.
The second stanza of the 14-week league season will resume on February 23, while the season ends on April 06, 2022.
