Some members of the organising committee at the 7th edition of Dreamland/Embassy of Hungary Cup recently concluded in Abuja were rewarded for their input and outstanding performance during the one week event.

For the first time in the most outstanding grassroots football tournament in the country, a journalist, referee, coach and Local Organising Committee member were recognised for their outstanding commitment and overall dedication to duty.
The four categories of awards were sponsored by the Friends of Hungary Exclusive Club, Abuja who identified with the organisers and rewarded the four persons for their effort.

The various award given includes best referee of the tournament, Best Journalist of the tournament, Best coach of the tournament and Best LOC Member of the tournament.
Ocheme Sunday who distinguished himself among the referees was rewarded his professional performance with the whistles as he beat others to win the Best Referee of the tournament.

Pius Idoko of Aso Radio/Television who ran commentary and reporting of the tournament in his station consecutively won the Best Journalist of the tournament.
The Best Coach of the tournament was won by Theophilus Caleb Yiepieng of Jazzy Stars FC of Jos. The team played in the semi-final but lost to eventual champions, Galadima.
The Best LOC Member of the tournament went to Felix Aguguom who was also a match commissioner during the tournament.

The awardees were given plaques and the sum of twenty-five thousand (N25, 000) each for their hard-work.
Speaking during the award, the Managing Director, Dreamland/Embassy of Hungary Cup, Mr Ndudi Ebede thanked the awardees for their outstanding commitment and reminded them that the reward for hard-work is more work.
Mr Ndudi also called on other members of the committee and officials who were not recognised not to view the award as a vote of no confidence in them but should see it as a collective effort to encourage all members to double their efforts.
Mr Ndudi who expressed delight over the success of the tournament thanked Friends of Hungary Exclusive Club, Abuja for their support and sponsoring the awards.

“These awards is our own little way of appreciating those who are outstanding during the tournament. We have over 10 Local Organising Committee, LOC members as well as officials who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the tournament. It is on this basis that we recognised them.
“I will also not hesitate to remind the winners that this is to encourage you to put in more effort because to whom much is given, much is expected. I also wish to remind all the referees, coaches, journalists and coaches not to see the award as a vote of no confidence on their capacity and professionalism. They won today, you could win tomorrow.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the President of Friends of Hungary Exclusive Club, Abuja, Mr Sunday Echem and his wonderful members for sponsoring the award this year. It is my hope that this partnership will extend to subsequent editions of the tournament.

Meanwhile, as part of activities to mark their end of year, Friends of Hungary Exclusive Club, Abuja will on Saturday, December 7th visit some orphanages homes in Abuja as part of activities to roundup their 2019 programmes.
