The minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare has been pleaded with to protect Nigeria athletes across the globe.

The President, Muathythai Federation of Nigeria, MFN, Comrade Paul Egonu, made the appeal in an interview with Tidesports, Wednesday in Port Harcourt.

He further called on the minister to intervene in the missed drugs test allegation against Nigerian born athlete, Salsa Eid Naser, formerly known as Ebelechchukwu Agbapuonwu.

According to him, the test which was conducted by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on Naser was characterized by foul play.

“I believe that this is a calculated attempt to strip her the medal she won at World Championship held in Doha, as she ran 48.14 to become third fastest in 400m in the history” Egonu said.

He described the allegation as sports politics against Nigeria, saying that if this is not checked they will continue to rob the country in international sports events.

The MFN President used the forum to urge the sports ministry to equip the anti-doping unit and educate athletes on the dangers of illicit drugs.
