Nigeria champions, Rivers United have been attacked in training in Benghazi as they prepare for the CAF Confederation Cup second leg

The Pride of the Rivers were attacked by Al Nasr fans during their training in a private facility on Monday evening,said that the lives of the players and officials are under threat
The club confirmed the unfortunate development on their social media handles stressing that the attackers came singing war songs before they started throwing stones at them.
“This evening at our training in a private facility secured in Benghazi, fans of Al Nasr came in their numbers signing war songs and thrown stones at us. They even followed us to our hotel
“Our lives have been threatened in Benghazi,”
the club said
It added that since their arrival on Monday ahead of their Wednesday match, they do not have any security personal atta he’d to them.
“Since our arrival in Benghazi and up until this moment, we do not have any security personal attached to our team.”
Rivers United on Wednesday last week pummelled the visiting Al Nasr 5-0 first leg win and are optimistic of qualifying for the group stage if they do not lose 6-0 on Wednesday.
