The immediate past minister of youth and sports, Solomon Dalung has disclosed his regrets when he held sway as the number sports person in the country, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

Dalung who was appointed minister in November 2015 to oversee the sports ministry vacated the office on 28 May 2019 said that his greatest regrets leaving office were his inability to secure the release of funds for various competitions the country will be participating in this year and 2020.

The former minister who disclosed this in an interview recently said he regrets not getting the relevant authorities to approval the release of fund for nigeria’s participation in the August 2019 All Africa Games, the Beach Games in Cape Verde as well as the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games despite writing for their releases of the funds since last year.

“Well, my greatest regret today will be that I am leaving office and I have not been able to secure funds for Africa Games, the Beach Games in Cape Verde, and the Olympics despite writing and requesting for this funding over a year ago and pursuing it with so many visits to different places including the ministry of finance including getting the presidential approval for the funds to be released. I am leaving today without one of those funds released and that is one of the things that I have as a regret to me.

“But as I promised, I will continue to reach out to the ministry of finance and to the president to insist that these funds be released timely so that the ministry can fund these competitions otherwise Nigeria at the All Africa Games will be disgraced. There will be no good performance at the Olympics and at Cape Verde we will only use our determination to raise our flag,” he said.
