Nigeria’s sprint hurdles queen, Tobi Amusan, delivered an outstanding performance on the international stage, winning the women’s 100-metre hurdles at the Grand Prix Brescia in Italy.

The World Record Holder proved her elite class and technical resilience by crossing the finish line in a swift 12.56 seconds, completely defying a severe -1.7m/s headwind that slowed down the entire field.

The World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting in Brescia featured a highly competitive field. Running directly into the heavy wind, Amusan executed a composed and powerful drive over the barriers, holding off severe pressure from her closest global rivals.

American standout Alaysha Johnson pushed hard till the final barrier, finishing just six-hundredths of a second behind Amusan to take second place in 12.62 seconds.

Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, one of the fastest rising stars in the discipline, completed the high-calibre podium, securing third place with a time of 12.75 seconds.

Given the harsh environmental conditions at the Centro Gabre Gabric track, Amusan’s sub-12.60s time highlights her sheer power and excellent tactical form. Winning in Brescia adds another impressive victory to her consistent campaign as she continues to dominate international hurdles fields and reinforce her status as Africa’s premier track queen
