The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade , has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to driving a sustainable, commercially viable, and legacy-focused sports ecosystem in Nigeria.
Speaking during an executive strategic engagement with key sports stakeholders, corporate partners, and sports administrators, Hon Olopade emphasized that building a lasting sports culture in Nigeria requires transparent funding, private sector synergy, and direct investment in grassroots and elite infrastructure.
“Legacy means a lot to me. Show us the money, and let’s build the legacy together,” Hon Olopade stated.
Commercial Viability & Accountability: The NSC is establishing transparent frameworks to ensure corporate investments and public funds yield verifiable returns and tangible development across all sporting disciplines.
Infrastructure & Grassroots Legacy: Directing financial investments toward modernizing sporting facilities, talent identification pipelines, and long-term athlete welfare programs.

Public-Private Partnership (PPP): Inviting corporate Nigeria, international organizations, and private investors to co-create sustainable sports properties that outlive administrative tenures.
Hon. Olopade reaffirmed that the National Sports Commission under his leadership will prioritize institutional reforms that transform sports from mere entertainment into a robust economic sector capable of driving youth empowerment, national unity, and international prestige.
The Commission calls on corporate entities, brand sponsors, and sports federations to align with the new strategic direction as the NSC prepares to roll out its upcoming national sports infrastructure and developmental initiatives.
