Africa Games: Team Nigeria Win Two More Gold Medals; Okagbare Out Of 100m For False Start
Team Nigeria increased their gold medal to two on day 10 at the 12th All Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco.
Complete Sports reports that in the weightlifting event, Adenike Olarinoye edged out her compatriot Chika Amalaha in women’s 55kg, winning GOLD with a lift of 209kg. Amalaha got Silver lifting 208kg.
Grace Anigbata (pictured above) won Nigeria’s first gold medal in the athletics event, winning the women’s triple jump with the mark of of 13.75m.
In the men’s discus event, Dotun Ogundeji saved his best for the last, clinching the silver medal with his last throw.
The Team Nigeria however suffered a big setback as Blessing Okagbare was disqualified in heat 1 of women’s 100m semi-final for a false start.
Joy Udo-Gabriel however made it to the final winning her heat with a time of 11.47s.
Team Nigeria are in sixth position in the medals table with five gold five silver and eight bronze medals.
