Former Green Eagles (Super Eagles) goalkeeper, Peter Fregene, yesterday successfully underwent two major surgeries at the Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The surgeries were carried out by one of the best Neurosurgeons in the World, United States-based Nigeria, Dr. Olawale Sulaiman.

Nigeria’s business mogul and philanthropist, Chief Femi Otedola flew in Dr Suleiman into the Country from the United States to perform the Surgery on Peter Fregene who has been bedridden for three years.

Best Choice Sports understands that Peter Fregene is currently recuperating at the Intensive Care Unit of the Reddington Hospital.

Peter Fregene was the goalkeeper of Nigeria senior male national football team, the Green Eagles then now called Super Eagles. He manned the Super Eagles goalpost in the ‘70s and early ‘80s.

He was Nigeria’s goalkeeper in the African Nations Cup in 1982 in Libya. He was also in-between the sticks for the Eagles in 1968 Olympics games in Montreal Canada.

Peter Fregene has been crippled down by stroke for several years, neglected by football and sports authorities in the Country.

Nicknamed “the flying Cat”, Peter Fregene remains, perhaps, the best goalkeeper Nigeria has produced.
