Abia Warriors’ Adekunle Replaces Omeruo For AFCON Qualifiers

Abia Warriors defender, Adeleke Adekunle has replaced Leganes defender, Kenneth Omeruo in the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s squad for their 2022 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho.

This latest change was confirmed on the verified Twitter handle of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Saturday after the confirmation that Omeruo won’t be available for the two games as he has also been stopped by his Club from prosecuting the game.

Adekunle has been with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors since the 2019/2020 season.

The former Go Round defender has played 24 league games for Abia Warriors since the 2019/2020 season.

Kenneth Omeruo joined the likes of Samuel Kalu and Umar Sadiq in missing out on the next two games for Nigeria.

Paul Onuachu (KRC Genk), Henry Onyekuru (Galatasaray), and Anayo Iwuala (Enyimba FC) have been called up to replace the players.
