Abuja Beach Soccer: FCT Team Are Not Disappointed With Second Place Finish – Chinedu
By Amaechi Agbo
FCT Team came second at the just concluded maiden edition of Abuja Beach Soccer held at the Jabi Lake Abuja but one of the star players in the FCT Team, Christopher Chinedu says the players do not hold their heads down for being the second best team in the competition, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
Speaking with our correspondent after the final on Sunday, the Supreme Court FC of Abuja midfielder said the tournament was a learning one for the FCT young team and commended the FCT FA under the able leadership of Adam Mouktar Mohammed for a great job well executed.
Chinedu further added that with the experience gathered in the first edition, FCT Team will bounce back stronger in subsequent editions.
“The game is quite physical. You need to be fit to be able to play. We were assembled two weeks before the competition and I joined them 4 days to the opening match. But the coaches did a great job. They helped us a lot to make us adapt to the physicality of the game.
“The experience is wonderful. We are not disappointed that we came second. If we trained up to one or two months and face them (Kebbi state), we will beat them. With the level of what we did in this short time, we are proud of our exploits here. If you compare us to Kebbi, you know we are just amateurs.
“We are a growing team and I believe with more work, we will get there.
“I really commend the FCT FA for their efforts and I say a big thank you to them. I know it is not easy but they have done quite well,” he conluded.
