AFCON 2023: Our Strength Lies In Coming Together – Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa Tells Nigerians
Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa has charged Nigerians to use the team’s victory against Cameroon on Saturday as a spring board to unite the country more.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday beat Cameroon 2-0 in the Round 16 of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Ivory Coast to qualify for the quarter-final.
In a post on his social media handles, Musa who expressed joy over the victory, said it’s time to kick out negativity, killings, rivalry in the country and embrace love.
“Celebrating the Super Eagles’ journey to the AFCON quarter-finals – a testament to the power of unity on the football field. This picture shows the genuine happiness we all feel.
“In the beautiful game, we stand united, transcending tribe and religion. Let this victory be a reminder that our strength lies in coming together.
“Amidst the challenges our nation faces, let’s use the spirit of football to bridge divides and foster harmony.
“It’s time to kick out the negativity, end the unnecessary killings, rivalry, and embrace the love that sports bring.
Join hands for peace, goals, and a brighter future,” the former Leicester City player said.
This is the second time Nigeria is defeating Cameroon at this stage of the continental tournament having beaten them 3-2 in 2019 edition hosted by Egypt.
Nigeria will meet Angola in the quarter-final on Friday by 6pm.
