Africa Games: Okagbare Questions AFN’s Team List, Demands For Outstanding Training Grants

Nigeria’s Women’s 100 metres Commonwealth Games record holder, Blessing Okagbare has questioned the exclusion of her name from the final list of athletes who will represent Nigeria at the 12th Africa Games taking place in Rabat, Morocco in August, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The Athletic Federation of Nigeria on Saturday released the final list of the team that will adore the colours of the country in Morocco with Okagbare’s name conspicuously missing.

Okagbare who has represented the country in three different Africa Games – 2007, 2011, 2015 – was particularly not happy with her name being excluded, consequently she demanded to know when their training grants would be paid.

On Saturday, Athletic Federation of Nigeria, AFN, announced its official team list for the 12 edition of the Africa Games which holds from August 19th to 31st, 2019.

The team is made up of 51 athletes, 29 Females and 22 Males

Reacting to the team list, Okagbare who tweeted via her Twitter account asked who the list help.

“Who this list help? Can they please tell us what and when we will be getting our training grant plesssssssssssssssssssse!” he tweeted Saturday night.

Blessings Okagbare has represented Nigeria in three consecutive All Africa Games, now known as Africa Games.

She made her debut in the games in Algeria in 2007 where she won sliver in Long Jump with 6.46 m. she also came 4th in the Triple jump with 13.77 m

In 2011 All-Africa Games held in Maputo, Mozambique she came 2nd      100 m race clocking 11.01, won gold in both Long Jump with 6.50mw and also another gold in relay where the team clocked 43.34 to clinch the 1st position.

In the African Games held in Brazzaville, Congo in 2015, Okagbare took part in relay race and won gold with the team after finishing a record 43.10s to beat their earlier record in the previous edition.
