President, World Table Tennis, WTT Liu Guoliang has extolled the quality of Number one Africa tennis icon Aruba Quadri stating that the continent has the capacity to produce more superstars like the Nigerian, Bestchoicesports.com.ng reports.

Mr Guoliang is optimistic that Africa would produce more global superstars like Aruna Quadri, and hopes that the continent will get to stage one of the top Table Tennis events in the world.

“As a global sports, Africa is one of the continent that will ensure the success of WTT and our aim is to ensure we’ve more top stars like Aruna Quadri from Africa because he has shown to be among the most popular table tennis players in the world,” Guoliang said.

Aruna played his last game for Sporting Lisbon, earlier in the week helping them win their 37th title, 5th consecutive triumph since 2016! Sporting won GD Toledos 3-0 in both legs, with Quadri beating Énio Mendes 3-2 (11-4, 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-3) & Diogo Silva 3-1 (11-5, 6-11, 7-11, 3-11)

Quadri admitted that his last match for the club wasn’t so easy for him: “It was a very difficult game particularly against my former team and mate, Diogo Silva, who is a player with a lot of talent. We played together for 4yrs and it is always difficult to play against him.”

“After 10yrs in Portugal, it was time to leave for a championship with another level. I was very happy here, Portugal for me is almost the same as Nigeria and I’ll continue to live in Portugal because I’ve a family here. I’ll train a few times at Sporting this year,” Quadri said.
