Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Sports Stakeholders Coordinating Committee and former Chairman of Akwa United FC, Obong Isong Isang has expressed confident that Nigerian Champions, Akwa United will perform well in the upcoming CAF Champions League.
In an interview shortly before the stakeholders meeting in Uyo, Obong Isang who congratulated the team for winning the NPFL title, said the achievement was well deserved following the quality of football the team played in the outgone season under the tutelage of Coach Kennedy Boboye.
He added that with most of the players still intact and massive support of the Akwa Ibom State government, Akwa United can go ahead to conquer Africa. He called on the Nigeria Football Federation and all stakeholders to rally round the team to ensure that Akwa United and other continental teams give Nigeria an excellent representation in Africa.
According to him, the football stakeholders are working very closely with the management of Akwa United in putting everything in place in line with CAF approved standard in ensuring that the match is hosted on Sunday September 12 hitch-free.
On the match tickets, Obong Isang said “the ticket is N1000 for the popular side and N2000 for the reserved seats, this is a CAF controlled match and football is business all over the world. These are the standards that CAF is insisting, so anyone who wants to watch the match at the stadium must buy his ticket before the match day, because tickets won’t be sold on the match day.”
Recall that the Publicity sub-committee for the CAF Champions League first round first leg clash between Akwa United and Algeria’s CR Belouizdad had announced that the tickets will go on sales from Friday September 10 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and other designated locations within the state.
