The Anambra State Football Association has congratulated the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Comrade Philip Shaibu on his appointment as Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS).

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday named Shaibu as the new chief executive of the nation’s principal citadel of sports science and research, to take over from Professor Olawale Moronkola with immediate effect.

“Shuaibu is my good friend who’s an active professional football player who just retired few seasons ago, his passion for Sports and his Workings and Resilience during his time as the Deputy Governor of Edo State  Shows that he has the Capacity to Deliver.

“We wish him all the best as we expect positive improvements in the NIS,” Chikelue Iloenyosi, known as The General, stated

The National Institute for Sports was established in 1974 as a research and training institute, with the mandate to produce top-notch coaches, sports scientists and sports managers, and for the purpose of conducting research, all with the objective of improving Nigeria’s performance in sports internationally.
