Former Nigeria Flying Eagle striker, Taiwo Awoniyi scored a brace and recorded an assist as his club, Union Berlin of Germany thrashed KuPS 4-0 in a UEFA Europa Conference League play-off game, www.bestcoicesports.com.ng can report.
The former Liverpool striker started the first-half goal fest in Helsinki with his seventh-minute opener.
A few minutes later, Awoniyi supplied Max Kruse to double Union Berlin’s lead in the 29th minute and then he found the back of the net again two minutes later.
After the restart, the 24-year-old was replaced on the hour-mark as the Iron Ones maintained their first-half dominance.
Awoniyi who was part of the Golden Eagles squad that won the U-17 World Cup in 2015 has now scored 3 goals in 3 games for Union Berlin.
The 24-year-old represented Nigeria at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and went on to win the tournament, scoring four goals during the competition.
He also represented Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand after winning the 2015 African U-20 Championship in Senegal.
On 12 April 2015, he scored a brace on his debut for the Nigeria U-23 team in a match against Zambia, as his team went on to qualify for the 2015 All African Games.
