Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL side, Bayelsa Queens FC has sacked six of their players, Best Choice Sports can report.

The sacking followed a meeting of the clubs management and decision thereafter.

The release listed the affected players to include Okoko Tega, Linda Kpambe, Emem Essien, Edith Loveth, Linda Nnaocha and Rabi Ihiabe.

“The management of Bayelsa Queens FC, after due and holistic consideration has decided to let go six of its players at the end of August 31, 2020.

“According to a statement signed by the Acting Chairman of the club, Pastor Robin Aprela, the six players affected are: Okoko Tega, Linda Kpambe, Emem Essien, Edith Loveth, Linda Nnaocha and Rabi Ihiabe.

“Management also thanked the players for their good work and dedication during their stay at the club and wish them success in their future endeavors,” the statement read.

The club however did not give reasons for the decision to relieve the players but it was gathered that this was not unconnected with the impact of COVID-19 as the club did not say anything on their replacement.

The 2020/2021 NWFL season is slated to commence in September/October.
