Director of Sports, Bayelsa state sports council, Sir Braveman Wodi says the progression of young chess players in the state would continue to be  accorded  priority by the state  government.

Sir Wodi gave the assurance during the presentation of a new laptop to fourteen years old Master Kere Alagoa by Danhypro Services after emerging as champion for the September edition of virtual Chess National Championship.

He explained that the foundation solid laid  by the sports council over the years in the development of chess was yielding  positive results; describing Bayelsa State as the home of  Chess.

Sir Wodi while thanking Danhypro Services for their support in promoting chess in state, said he was not surprised by Alagoa’s performances because the state has in past produced  national chess stars.

He pointing out that his performance  has shown that if talents are enhanced,   Bayelsa State  would produce the next grand master in the world.

 Representative of Danhypro services Mr.Benibo Bourdillon said the professionalism demonstrated by the Bayelsa State Chess Association was the reason they decided to partner the association to  achieve  its  goals .

On his part an elated C4 Academy Instructor Mr. Bomo Kigigha, said  he  dreamt of seeing young chess players competing with their counterparts in the world.

Receiving the price Master Kere Alagoa said   chess has changed his reasoning and perception of life.

Master Alagoa added that he would not relent in his quest to make the state proud.
