CAF Champions League Group Draw Holds January 8

The draw for the group stage of the 2021 CAF Champions League will hold on Friday, January 8, 2021, in Egypt, CAF has announced.

CAF stated Tuesday that the draw will also comprise of the last preliminary round of the Confederation Cup.

“The draw for the Total CAF Champions League 2020/21 Group Stage and the 2020/21 Total CAF Confederation Cup Additional 2nd preliminary round will be held on Friday 8th of January 2021 in CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt,” CAF said.

Overall winners from the Total CAF Champions League 2nd Preliminary Round will take place in the Group Stage draw.

Similarly, aggregate winners from the Total CAF Confederation Cup 2nd Preliminary Round will take place in the Additional 2nd Preliminary Round, where they face the aggregate losers from the Total CAF Champions League 2nd Preliminary Round.

The group stage matches will commence from February 12/13 through to 9/10 April, 2021.

The first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup Additional 2nd Preliminary Round matches will hold on 14th of February 2021 while the reverse leg will hold on 21st of February 2021

Total CAF CL Group Stage:

· Match Day 1 – 12th/13th of February 2021,

· Match Day 2 – 23rd of February 2021,

· Match Day 3 – 5th/6th of March 2021

· Match Day 4 – 16th of March 2021

· Match Day 5 – 2nd/3rd of April 2021

· Match Day 6 – 9th/10th of April 2021

Total CAF CC Additional 2nd Preliminary Round:

· 1st Leg – 14th of February 2021

· 2nd Leg – 21st of February 2021

So far, five clubs have qualified for the group stage including two South African clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs as well as Al Ahly of Egypt and Senegalese debutant, Teungueth FC.

Nigeria’s sole representatives, Enyimba FC will need to overcome a 3-0 deficit against Al Merrikh of Sudan to entertain hope of reaching the money spilling stage.

The match will hold in Aba later today.
