Bayelsa United, playing in the Confederation Cup, pipped visiting VS Sfaxien of Tunisa 1-0 in Yenagoa on Sunday at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
Victory Beniangba scored the only goal.of the encounter in 56th minute of the keenly contested encounter.
They fought hard to add to their advantage but were unable to breach the CS Sfaxien defence for a second time.
The Tunisians will host the 2021 Aito Cup winners in the return leg on Saturday at the Stade Taieb Mhiri in Sfax.
