Sunshine Spikers stunned Offa VC in the men’s category with a dominant 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-21, while Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers defeated NSCDC 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-14) to remain a strong contender in 2024 CGC Volleyball Premier League on Thursday.

The third day of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League in Abuja saw some thrilling matchups, with surprise upsets and dominant victories across the men’s and women’s categories.

In one of the standout results of the day, Sunshine Spikers produced a stunning performance, brushing aside defending champions, Offa VC with a commanding 3-0 win (17-25, 22-25, 21-25). Sunshine’s impressive display left Offa struggling to find momentum, securing all three sets convincingly.

NSCDC took their chances as they defeated Spartan Spikers by 3-1 (25-18, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23). Spartan Spikers fought hard in the fourth set but could not overcome NSCDC while former Division 1 and 2 champions, CNS Spikers beat Nigeria Immigration Service 3-0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-13) in style.

Elsewhere, COAS Spikers showed no mercy in their match against Nigeria Correctional Service, securing a three straight-set win (25-21, 25-16, 25-17) to strengthen their position. On the other hand, Nigeria Police Force put up a fight but ultimately fell to Kada Kings 1-3 (21-25, 14-25, 25-21, 18-25), as the Kings maintained their unbeaten run.

Nigeria Customs also endured a heart-stopping contest, losing narrowly to Kano Pillars in a thrilling 2-3 result (25-14, 17-25, 25-20, 23-25, 12-15). Despite taking an early lead, Customs struggled to close out the match, allowing Kano Pillars to stage a comeback in the latter sets.

In the women’s category, LifeCamp VC emerged victorious in an exciting five-set thriller against Benue Queens (25-22, 22-25, 13-25, 25-22, 13-15), with LifeCamp securing the win in the final set. The match featured momentum shifts as both teams exchanged sets, but LifeCamp’s resilience in the final moments made all the difference.

COAS Spikers produced a commanding performance, thrashing Nigeria Immigration Service 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13), while Kada Emeralds also cruised to a 3-0 victory over Olalomi (14-25, 17-25, 12-25). The solid performances from both teams continued to show their dominance in the league.

In another dominant display, Nigeria Customs Service defeated NAF Rockets 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-18), showcasing superior teamwork and individual brilliance. Similarly, CNS Spikers powered through NSCDC with a clinical 3-0 win (25-13, 25-17, 25-14), securing their third victory in the tournament.
