“The death of Chidi Ofo Okenwa is a rude shock to me. It is an unbelievable news that is hard to fathom.

“Chief Ofo Okenwa was a reliable, dependable and forthright gentleman of immense leadership and administrative prowess.

“I have known Okenwa for many years, and his personality, integrity, leadership style cannot be matched.

“He was one of the good hands in the Nigeria Football Federation and it was no doubt why he was an executive board member as well as a member of the technical committee.

“His passion for football particularly at the grassroots is unrivalled. Just in March he concluded the Flavour U-13 Tournament in Enugu which was sponsored by Nigeria top musician, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour where budding talents were discovered.

“As the Chairman of the most important league in the country, the Nigeria National League, his stewardship ensured a progressive trajectory for the league until recently. He exhibited uncommon foresight to take the league to where it is today.

“In Enugu state where he recently won election for another term in office as the state’s FA Chairman, he carried the academies in the state like his pet project and introduced programmes such as “Boot to Book” to promote education among aspiring footballers in the school.
