An adage says that a fowl does not forget who removed wet tail in rainy season. It is no wonder then that Super Eagles attacker and Villarreal of Spain player, Samuel Chukwueze has donated training gadgets worth several millions of Naira to Super Stars Football Academy as part of his efforts to support grassroots football.

The donation was presented to the President of the academy Hon. Victor Apugo by Chukwueze’s mother, Mrs Sarah Chukwueze, on behalf of the Villarreal forward in the Abia State capital, Umuahia.

Apugo who during his time as General Manager of Chukwueze’s youth club, Diamond Football Academy, discovered and nurtured the 21-year-old before he came to limelight in 2015, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing the materials as high grade.

Apugo praised Chukwueze for not forgetting his days of humble beginning and for demonstrating his willingness to give back to society by making available the materials.

He said: “I’m very happy for these equipment and I can’t thank Sammy (Chukwueze) enough. This will serve as a motivation to the fledgling talents we have at Super Stars – that they can make it to the top too, while also improving the quality of our training to European standards.

“I’m mostly happy because this gesture by Chukwueze shows his willingness to give back to the society and that he hasn’t forgotten where he’s coming from. With this kind of cool-headedness and sense of responsibility, he’ll definitely get to the pinnacle of world football.”

Chukwueze has been linked with a big money move to one of the top clubs in Europe with Manchester United reportedly keen on landing his services.

According to La Razon, United see the Nigeria international as the perfect alternative to signing Jason Sancho from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

Chukwueze recently told Tribalfootball “Playing in England is still an ambition for me.

“I need to keep on working hard and to keep improving. I really want to play in England. I think so.”
