Two Nigeria’s representatives in the continental leagues, El Kanemi Warriors and Rangers Int’l FC, last week recorded mixed results

While Nigeria’s Federation Cup Champions, El Kanemi Warriors on Saturday crashed out of the 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup, Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL champions, Rangers qualified for the next round 9f the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

El Kanemi, who beat Abia Warriors 2-0 to win the 2024 Federation Cup, were eliminated by Benin Republic’s Dadje FC who beat them 3-2 on aggregate.

El-Kanemi had played a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the preliminary round last week in Ogun State but a 2-1 defeat in Benin on Saturday handed the host the ticket to the second round of the play-off

Enyimba FC, Nigeria’s second representative in the league got a bye in the preliminary draw.

Meanwhile, Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu on Friday qualified for the next round of the CAF Champions League following their 2-1 aggregate win against US Zilimandjou of Comoros.

Rangers booked their passage thanks to their 1-0 away win in the first leg as they were held to a 1-1 draw by the visitors in the return leg on Friday.

Interestingly, both matches were played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo, after US Zilimandjou adopted it as their home ground for the first leg.

Remo Stars, NPFL second representative, will need to be at their best and avoid conceding a goal or pick a draw at worst, against FAR Rabat of Morocco in their Champions League return leg tonight.

Remo Stars hold a slim 2-1 advantage against the Moroccans. The match will kick-off by 9pm.
