Derby Football Academy Emerges Champions Of 2023 Abuja Unity Cup

Derby Football Academy on Saturday emerged champion of the 4th edition of the Abuja Unity Cup Tournament.
In the final played at the Area 3 Play Ground the academy team defeated IB Sports one-nil to lift the coveted trophy.
Ebere Eugene scored the all-important lone goal in the 26th minute to give Derby FA’s cheering supporters a moment to savour.
The Abuja Unity Cup Tournament is organised by the AMAC Football Coaches Council.
At the end of the entertaining final with high profile football administrators on the spectators seats, Ebere Eugene was awarded the Most Valuable Player, MVP while the award of Outstanding Goalkeeper went to Nduka Obiakor of IB Sports Dream
IB Sports Dream’s Emmanuel Silver won the Golden Boot award as the Highest Goal Scorer of the competition.
Derby Football Academy coach, Ghassan Khawaja won the Coach of the Tournament Award.
Addressing journalists at the end of the competition, the leader of AMAC Football Coaches Council Mr Kenny Owojori thanked the Local Organizing Committee, LOC, the participating teams as well as the FCT FA for their support.
He commended the players for being professional stressing that the fifth edition will hold next year with much improvements.
“First of all, I want to say a big congratulations to the winners, Derby FA. I want to also appreciate the Local Organizing Committee for their sacrifices in ensuring the competition was a massive improvement from the last edition.
“The FA, as always, was there for us, providing all the support. The players conducted themselves in professional way and I want to commend them.
“To the referees and the media for their coverage, we are grateful.
“The fourth edition of the Abuja Unity Cup Tournament was a huge success and while we are looking forward to the fifth edition, we want to assure all our supporters, clubs, academies that we will continue to make improvements as well,” he stated.
