Enugu Rangers coach Benedict Ugwu has said the Nigerian outfit will file out an improved team in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff against ASC Kara on Sunday.
The Togolese champions handed Ugwu’s team a 2-1 first-leg defeat on Sunday in Lome with the return leg scheduled for Enugu.
Asked whether the result against Kara is a good one, Surugede as Ugwu is fondly called said: “Yes, 2-1 is a good result for me, because I know that we have seen our mistake, we have conceded 2-1 also, and we will make sure they are out of this competition.
“Well, although we lost, instead of losing 2-0 or losing 1-0, it is better I lose by 2-1.
“So, we know what we are going to do, we have seen our mistake, and we are going to rectify it. We know that surely, we are going to qualify because the type of game they saw there is not the type of game we are going to play in Enugu.”
“The team (Kara) is very good, no doubt about it. For having up to seven players in their CHAN team, they have good players,” he praised the Togolese side. “But we know we are better off.
“They have been playing on the pitch in Lome and they know in and out of the field. When they come to Enugu, they will test our field also.”
Overall winners of the fixture will progress to the group stage of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
