EXCLUSIVE: 41 Flamingos Called To Camp Ahead Of 2020 U-17 World Cup Qualifier Against Guinea

A total of 41 players for Nigeria’s U-17 female national team, the Flamingos have been called to camp ahead of the first leg first round FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Guinea later this month, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can exclusively report.

The players, our correspondent gathered, started arriving Abuja on Monday although some hitches have made it that some are yet to arrive the camp.

In the list Bestchoicesports.com.ng scooped, a total of 6 goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 7 midfielders and 15 attackers are invited by the technical crew.

It was further gathered that the technical crew of the team will further invite another batch of players by next week with a view to discovering and finding the best legs for the two-leg encounter.

Nigeria will play Guinea away in the first leg of the first round on the weekend of 28 February to 1^st March while the return leg will hold in a yet to be determined venue in Nigeria during the weekend of 13–15 March 2020.

Botswana, Guinea, Liberia, Morocco, Tanzania and Uganda all emerged from the preliminary round of CAF qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2020 in January

There were some convincing performances from the sextet, with Morocco putting 14 unanswered goals past Djibouti over two legs and Botswana, Guinea and Liberia scoring seven, eight and nine respectively.

Along with São Tomé and Príncipe and Zambia, who profited from the withdrawals of Congo DR and Namibia, these victorious sides now advanced to the first round proper, where Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa – the traditional giants of the African women’s game – entered the fray.

The winners of those six ties will then progress to a third and final stage, where the same two-legged, home-and-away format will be used to determine Africa’s three representatives at India 2020.
