Festival Torch Arrives Yenagoa As Governor Expresses State’s Readiness

Receiving the Torch at the Peace Park in Yenagoa, Governor Douyi Diri said that the NSF offers an avenue for unity among states in the country.
The Bayelsa Governor who was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo explained that the festival which serves as a means of national integration, also offers an avenue to discover talents for national sports growth
He commended the minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare on the adopt an athlete initiative, stating that it would offer athletes the opportunity to excel.
While emphasizing the state’s readiness to actively participate in the 20th edition, he stressed the need for sports administrators to focus on areas of comparative advantage and promised a handsome reward for athletes that would make the state proud.
Also, Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Sports Development, Chief Patimidi Tukuru appealed to the government to make provision for the camping of athletes to enable them prepare adequately and actualize the target of clinching the first position in the forthcoming fiesta.
On his part, Director of Sports Bayelsa State sports council Mr.Souye Lokoja expressed gratitude to the state government for the prompt attention and support given to Team Bayelsa.
The National Sports Festival is scheduled to hold from 20th March to 1st April 2020 in Benin City, Edo State.
