The federal government has reinstated it’s resolve to sustain collaboration with Nasarawa State in promoting effective and increase Agricultural production.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammad Sabo Nanono who stated this during the week commended the vast and enormous agricultural potentials in Nassarawa State adding that if harnessed, it would advance job and wealth creation opportunities especially for the teeming youth in the state and also boost the nation’s economic growth.

The Minister made this known during a courtesy visit by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, in his office Thursday evening in Abuja. 

Nanono said that the Federal Government will sustain it’s collaboration with the state to reposition it as a major industrial state that would employ well over 30,000 youths across the state.

Nanono said that the state is key to the agricultural development of the country because of its vast agricultural potentials. “You can virtually grow anything in Nasarawa State from maize to rice to sugarcane etc, the state holds the future for a strong agricultural, and industrial sector revolution”, he said.

The Minister assured the governor that the Ministry will support the state in the dualization of some of its rural roads for ease of movement of agricultural produce, stating that the measure will attract more investors, fast track agricultural development and increase food production in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, stated that the state is truly an agricultural state and that if given the necessary support from the Federal Government, the state will add a lot of value to the Agricultural activities and the economic diversification of the present administration, especially in the area of rice, casava, yam and other agricultural products.

Governor Sule also solicited the support of the Federal Government to pilot the dualization and construction of some rural roads across the state and also appealed for the inclusion of the state in the Rural Access and the Agricultural Marketing Project (RAMP) because of it’s proximity to the Federal Capital Territory .

He thanked the Minister and some of his Directors who accompanied him on a working visit to the state recently and assured that the state will engage the youths in the Agricultural sector.
