Flying Eagles Return To Nigeria From Egypt U-20 AFCON Tournament
Nigeria’s U-20 male national team, the Flying Eagles returned to the country on Monday morning from Egypt where they participated in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
The team arrived through Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
They won bronze medal at the Egypt tournament after humilititing Tunisia 4-0 in the 3rd place match and also qualified for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia. The World Cup will hold from May 10 to June 12.
The players will be giving one week break to rest before they reassemble in Abuja for their World Cup preparations.
Best Choice Sports reported that 15 players from the current squad will be dropped as Ladan Bosso seeks to rejuvenate his team ahead of the global fiesta.
Nigeria, Gambia, Senegal and Tunisia will represent Africa at the World Cup.
The draw will hold in Indonesian Capita, Jakarta on March 31.
