FOSLA Academy Retains FCT Principal’s Cup, Qualify For Zonal Finals

Nigeria’s first premier independent Football Academy, Fosla Academy has retain the FCT National Principal’s Cup after defeating Government Science Secondary School, GSSS of Tungamaji 2-0 in the final, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
In the final played on Friday at the Area 10 Old Parade Ground Abuja, the Karshi-based academy scored two first half quick goals to win the final for a record four consecutive time.
Onuche Ogbelu and Tukura Joel were the heroes for the Fosla Academy as their goals propelled them to win the final in a pulsating encounter.
Onuche Ogbelu 3rd minute free-kick goal rattled the GSSS boys after series of domination.
When the fans thought that the match has balanced and GSSS boys recovery from the early setback, Tukura Joel struck 7 minute later to consolidate the scoreline and weaken their opponents moral.
Although the match ended 2-0 after duration, the second half witnessed myriad of goal scoring chances from both ends but they all went begging.
Speaking at the end of the match, coach of the Fosla Academy, Mary Godspower who was visibly elated over the feat commended her boys for a job well done but charged them to be ready for greater challenges as they prepare for the zonal playoff.
“I am happy and excited today (Friday). We had our target and we have achieved it. Although I am not satisfied with their performance in the second half, nonetheless, the victory has been achieved
“We did not score in the second half probably because the boys felt the job has been done. They created so many chances but failed to utilise them.
“As a coach, my job is to ensure that we improve game-by-game and I promise you, you will see a different Fosla team during the zonal final,” the former Super Falcons player said.
To reach the finals, Fosla Academy pummelled Government Science Technical College, GSTC of Garki 11-1 in the first semi-final on earlier on Wednesday in which Zekeri Simeon scored a glut.
By emerging champions of the FCT National Principal’s Cup, Fosla Academy will represent the FCT at the North-Central Zonal playoff.
With this record, Fosla Academy has ow won the Principal’s Cup from 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021 consecutively. Recall that for the past two years, 2019 and 2020, the State Principal’s Cup was not played.
Meanwhile, Fosla Academy also emerged winners of 4×100m relay race of the FCT.
In the final race on Friday, March 12, Fosla emerged winners of the female category of the race while their boys came 3rd in the male category.
The quartets of Grace Moses, Peter Peace, Aisha Adegoke and Sunitha Samuel gave Fosla the needed victory
The results published at the end of the relay indicates that Fosla girls came first followed by Government Secondary School, GSS Karu. Government Science Secondary School, GSSS Tungamaji came 3rd while Government Science Technical College, GSTC of Garki came 4th
In the male category, the result indicates that GSS, GSTC, Fosla Academy and GSSS came first, second, third and fourth in that order.
