Ghana Beat Nigeria To Win WAFU B U-20 Women’s Tournament

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s team, the Falconets have lost the final of the WAFU B U-20 Women’s Tournament against Ghana in Kumasi
The Christopher Danjuma led ladies lost 3-1 on penalty shootout against their Ghanaian counterparts after the regulation ended 1-1 apiece.
Ghana took the lead in the 39th minute via penalty after the center referee pointed to the spot following Flourish Sabastine crash into Ghana’s Comfort with Stella Nyamekye breaking the deadlock from the 12 yard spot
Flourish Sabastine made amends of the penalty she conceded as she scored the equalizing goal in the 86 minute.
With no further goal to separate both teams, the match went into penalty shootout straight. While Ghana scored three out of the five Spo kicks, Nigeria scored only once.
The Falconets nwere favourite the tournament following their impressive performances in the competition.
The played four matches en route the final scoring 27 goals without conceding.
The inaugural West Africa Football Union, WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s Tournament which began on May 20 ended on June 3rd, 2023 in Kumasi, Ghana.
