Giant Brillars Football Club of Enugu on Saturday pummeled visiting Ekiti United 4-0 in matchday 7 of the 2022 Nigeria National League, NNL match, www.bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
Played at Brillars slaughter house, the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus stadium, Brillars who handed a 3-0 bashing to their last visitors, J Atete unleashed their anger (2-1 defeat way to Ibom Youths in their previous match) on the Ekiti United lads with ruthless abandoned.
The first half real chance of the game fell to Olokotintin from a corner kick after Mathew Idoko threatened from the left side in the early stages. He skipped across two Ekiti United defenders but his cross cum shot was deflected for corner kick with the resulting set piece yielding no result
With the first half ending in a barren draw, Ekiti United had their work cutout and their defence bombarded in the restart as Brillars returned with a different strategy that paid off instantly.
The midfield trio of Chidiebere Nwankwo, Nkwocha Chisom and Onabolu Tunmise added energy, creativity and pace as they bossed the middle of the park
With less than 60 seconds of restart, Chidiebere Nwankwo on his first ever start of the season led the onslaught as he picked the ball from a Onabolu Tunmise, drove down the middle of the park, danced his way through the midfield and released an intercontinental ballistics left footed missile from 30 yards, in the 46th minutes to give Giant Brillars the lead.
Giant Brillars, (Ọnwa Boys) threatened even more and their trouble latter paid off in the 63 minute as Reinhard Azubuike Young capitalized on a defensive error to pounce on a lose ball and dinked well from an acute angle to beat the goalkeeper.
Reinhard scored his brace in the evening from the spot after he was hauled down by a defender of Ekiti United after a fine defensive work from Nwaorisa Miracle had set him up against the keeper.
Miracle picked the ball from and passed nicely to Anyawu Promise who went on an attacking surge of 2 vs 1. He laid unselfishly to Reinhard who was then clean on goal before he was hacked down inside the box.
He coolly slotted in the 3rd and his second of the game before he was replaced by Chisom Anasoh who will later wrap up the win in the 86th minute after he was released by Promise Anyawu once again. He dinked the ball over the helpless Ekiti United goalkeeper to complete the rout
The win takes Brillars to 3rd on Southern Conference B1 log with 13 points as they continue their push for a place in the NNL Super 8.
The Ọnwa Boys have played 7 matches, won four, lost 2 and drew 1
Reinhard Azubuike Young have four goals to his credit currently in the league and is not letting his focus off the pedal as he hope to take home the highest goal scorer award.
