The crisis rocking Nigeria Professional Football League side, Heartland FC of Owerri got worsened Tuesday as the League Management Company, LMC has slammed a fine of one million naira (N1, 000, 000) on the club for wearing jerseys without players’ names in their matchday 9 clash against MFM in Lagos on Sunday, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

Shortly after the Owerri-based side won their host 2-1 on Sunday, pictures of the players wearing jerseys without the players’ names went viral on social media with many calling for their punishment.

The LMC Tuesday acted swiftly as it placed a fixed penalty of N100, 000 and slammed a N1 million sanctioned on the club for breaching Rules B9.7-8 for non-display of name and number on kits and B9.26 for wearing unregistered kits of the NPFL Framework and Rules

Heartland breached the NPFL Framework and Rules after shirts and shorts worn by its players didn’t display numbers, surnames and club name and logo.

“A fixed penalty of N100,000 is imposed on Heartland as well as a fine of N1 million for the breach,” the LMC said.

Heartland has 48 hours to appeal the sanction
