How Chelsea Legend Didier Drogba Inspired Victor Osimhen’s Career
Super Eagles and Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has revealed that Chelsea legend Didier Drogba was one of the players who inspired his football career, Bestchoicesports.com.ng understands
Osimhen who joined the Italian giants from Ligue 1 side Lille in July this year said in a recent interview that Drogba became the player he looked up to as soon as he could kick a ball and always wanted to emulate his style of play.
“Drogba is someone I look up to. A man asked me who I played like and I said I didn’t know,” he said.
“He asked me to go to YouTube and check out Drogba and that was where I fell in love with the kind of player and man he is.
“He has added a lot to my game that is helping me out till today.”
Daily Trust reports that the 21-year-old also affirmed that his move to Napoli couldn’t have come at a better time and he hopes to help the club achieve their goals and ambitions while also growing in his game.
“My dream is to become the African Footballer of the Year, and I think I still have a long way to go in achieving that dream.
“I’m really working towards that direction and I think I’m on the right path.”
Drogba won two Africa Footballer of the Year in 2006 and 2009 and also helped Chelsea to win their first ever Champions League Cup in 2012.
