How Sports Minister, Traditional Ruler Survived Attack In Ogbomoso

The minister who was in Ogbomoso to commiserate with the family of late Jimoh Isiaka who was killed by a police bullet during the #ENDSARSNOW protest in the area on Saturday visited the paramount ruler to discuss issues concerning the community particularly security.
It was in the course of the meeting that the hoodlums attacked the palace with many jumping through the fence after entrance from the gate proved difficult.
According the minister in his tweets, he said that the attackers whom he described as hoodlums, thugs and miscreants disrupted stakeholders meeting in the Soun’s palace stoning and breaking doors, glasses.
He noted that “Soun, myself and council chiefs were scurried into safety by the police and DSS.”
The minister further described the Ogbomoso youths as law abiding adding that the hoodlums have taken over the peaceful protest by the youth against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad to hijack the protest and unleash mayhem
A combined team of Operation Burst from Ibadan and a unit from Iliorin are now on ground in Ogbomoso to help keep the peace, protect the peaceful and innocent and also stop criminal elements. Soun of Ogbomosho yesterday and today personally appealed to this group to stop violence.
However, unconfirmed report has it that about 8 persons were killed in the attack but latest finding indicates that this was untrue.
In a release on Monday, the Ogbomoso traditional ruler debunked report that people were killed in the palace.
The released titled “Unprovoked Attack On Ogbomoso Palace: No Death Recorded” and signed by the Mr Toyin Ajamu, Principal Secretary to Soun of Ogbomosoland, said that despite the unprovoked attack by the hoodlums, the Palace guards did not retaliate.
The release noted that despite the lives the paramount ruler as well as his visitors being at stake, he gave orders that nobody should retaliate the attack.
“The attack was perpetrated by hoodlums and miscreants disguised as protesters against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) leading to the wanton destruction of properties and vehicles at the palace. A chief among other palace officials also sustained injuries.
“Contrary to fake news being disseminated on social media, we state categorically that despite the needles provocations and ill-treatment meted out to the Royal household during the violent attack on the Palace, the Paramount ruler and his household did not retaliate.
“Kabiyesi, who was with his chiefs and subjects including Minister of Youth and Spam Development (an indigene of Oghomoso), when the hoodlum invaded the palace, advised the palace staff to refrain from attacking the hoodlum,” the release said.
Reacting to video circulating in the social media in which policemen were seen dragging dead bodies into their car, the traditional ruler said that the two dead bodies were brought into the palace by the hoodlums to cause mayhem.
“None of the miscreants and thugs was attacked by the palace household but rather a chief, who was pelted with stones by the hoodlums sustained serious injuries
“The dead bodies being circulated on social media were brought into the palace by the hoodlum to cause confusion and justify the attack on the palate.
The statement further described the Paramount ruler is a nonagenarian who is a strong advocate of peace and unity which is evident in the robust development Ogbomoso land and its environs have witnessed over the forty-seven years at his reign.
