Some of the Athletics Association state chairmen present in the congress in Awka were impostors as against what was reported in some quarters, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

A reliable source who was at the illegal Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, congress in Awka revealed that the Congress was attended by some impostors as State Chairmen of the Athletics Association.

The impeccable source who wants his name not mentioned called on Nigerians to challenge them to publish the names of the attendees of the so called congress in Awka adding that they will never do so because stadium manager and many other people who have nothing to do with athletics were registered as state chairmen who attended the congress.

“Many of the people paraded as state association chairmen in Awka are actually impostors.” The source said.

“Timon Gunen, a former Nigeria international is the Athletics chairman of Plateau state and was no where near Awka for the illegal congress and yet Plateau state was listed as one of the attendees of the so called congress.

The reliable source added that two other states, Katsina and Niger who were listed as present in the purported congress were not in Awka, he revealed that a stadium manager in Minna was used and registered as the athletics state chairman of Niger state and named among the communique drafting committee.

“One of the the people who wrote the communique is a stadium manager in Minna and yet he is paraded as state chairman.

He challenged them to publish the names of the attendees if they are truthful.

“Let them release the names of those who attended the illegal gathering and Nigerians will see how cheap they had been.” He concluded.

It could be recalled that the embattled AFN president, Ibrahim Gusau was suspended in a congress held in Abuja on Tuesday.
