Former U-20 national team coach, John Obu has praised the magnanimity of former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Abia State, Umeh Kalu for distributing food palliatives to Abia state people resident in Abuja to cushion the impact of Coronavirus, Bestchoicesports.com.ng reports.

The distribution which took place on Sunday in satellite cities in the FCT such as Lugbe/Airport Road and Mararaba/Nyanya, was shared among the people of Ohafia who reside in the federal capital.

Chief Ume Kau, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, was moved by the need to reach out to his people during the lockdown across the country as one of measures by the government to curtail the spread of ravaging coronavirus.

Coach Obuh who lead the U-17 Golden Eaglets to second place finish in 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup lauded Chief Ume for his kindness and love for his people.

“Chief Ume Kalu is a man of the people. He has demonstrated uncommon gesture of love to his people. The food items he shared as palliatives to cushion the impact of the coronavirus on Ohafia people living in the Federal Capital is a continuation of his life of love, meekness and giving.

“Unexpectedly, he invited us and provided the items exclusively for Ohafia people living in Lugbe, Airport Road and Kuje in Abuja.

“As a matter of fact, he has been a philanthropist. Even before now, he has been doing it. When we never had any crisis in the country, he has been doing it. In every Christmas he distributes rice, beans, money and clothes to the people. It has been in his character and I believe that is how he was created to show kindness,” he said

The firmer Enugu Rangers and Akwa United Technical Adviser added that “It is not only in Lugbe axis, there is another palliative distribution in Nyanya/Mararaba/ Jikwoyi axis. Those are the two locations the distribution was carried out.

“Chief left us with a promise that if the lockdown continues, there will be another round of distribution to the people,” he concluded.

The items distributed on Sunday included 150 tubers of yam, three 50kg bags of rice and two big bags of beans.

One of the recipients who spoke on behalf of others, Ifeoma Ene, thanked the donor for his magnanimity and prayed God to replenish his pockets.
