Newly promoted EPL side Aston Villa has confirmed assistant John Terry has signed a contract extension until 2021, Bestchoicesports.com.ng understands

The club confirmed via their Twitter account that the former Chelsea defender has signed a two-year deal with the newbies. Terry played a vital role as Villa returned to the Premier League after a three-year stay in the Championship. The former England man was named as a potential replacement for Frank Lampard who has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

“Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Assistant Head Coach John Terry has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2021,” a statement from the club read.

“The Board of Aston Villa is delighted with John Terry’s contribution to our club in his first year as an Assistant Head Coach. We admire his dedication and commitment to gaining more experience and learning under Dean Smith’s leadership in these formative years of his managerial career,” said club CEO Christian Purslow.
